Jouef
The firm "Le Cadeau Français" was created in 1944 and manufactured plastic household items. There is also a production of bazaar toys which includes cars, tin canoes and horse sets. Before 1949, a first railcar appeared, the famous Trans-Saharan "Algiers-Timbuktu", made of lithographed sheet metal, the first models of which were Elastic motors. Around 1950, "The French Toyçais" became "Jouef". The firm "Jouef" has marketed a large number of train sets which have enabled it to establish itself on the French market thanks to a policy of low prices in the face of competition and by renewing its range through changes in packaging and content while keeping the names of the sets. We distinguish different categories: -Motor equipment: steam locomotives, electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, railcars, railcars. -Towed passenger equipment: mainline cars, commuter cars, vans. -Towed goods equipment: 2-axle wagon, bogie wagon, flat, dumper, tank, covered, special. There are many SNCF trains, given that Jouef was originally created in France, but there is also a wide choice of European locomotives and wagons, which makes it possible to create very realistic railway decorations. varied and realistic.
Scalextric
Judging the game to still be too limited, Fred Francis found the solution at the 1955 London toy fair by discovering a miniature automobile circuit presenting all the characteristics of slot racing; guide slot, metal rails, skids under the cars, speed control rheostats. He then equips his “Scalex” cars with an electric motor and a guide. He just created “Scalextric”. Success was immediate, and soon the production capacity of the Mill Hill factory in London was insufficient. The Tri-ang toy empire, generic name of the Lines Brother Ltd group, imagining the enormous potential of the game, bought Fred Francis in 1958. Immediately Tri-ang improved the system by introducing control handles and beautiful, realistic plastic miniature cars equipped with the RX engine already present in the Hornby train range. By 1960, the catalog included four cars, fifteen track types, buildings, and exciting accessories. The success was overwhelming and the circuits invaded bedrooms and games rooms all over the world. In 1962, four new cars were unveiled and the brand announced two models with lighting for night races. Completed with a set of track lamps, this innovation allows young drivers to organize night competitions such as at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Havant factory in Hampshire is located 20 miles from the famous Goodwood racing circuit. You don't have to look very far where engineers have drawn their inspiration to reproduce buildings and other track difficulties in miniature (see the famous Goodwood chicane). But the 24 hours of Le Mans were in the 1960s the most famous car race in the world, and in 1962, Scalextric added to its catalog the famous “Le Mans” type start with its extension elements up to 8 tracks parallel roles. From then on the machine was launched, and despite numerous setbacks, the Scalextric held up for 50 years. The closure of the Margate factory in Kent in 2000 turned the page in the English history of the brand, but nothing can now stop Scalextric from becoming a generic name, a famous name. The Scalextric remains in the history of toys as the brand that imposes a new type of play.

Le Electricroad circuit is in some way the application of the principle of electric train to miniature cars. The English term, universally used by amateurs, is slot racing (slot = groove), although purists continue to think that Slot Racing is attributed to wooden tracks, and Circuit Routier to plastic tracks. The principle is to run vehicles equipped with a electric motor on a track which serves both for rolling, for guidance andfood Electric. The types of vehicles that can be seen moving on a track:
Other, more marginal types of vehicles existed. The guidance system is a groove in the track into which a guide pad ("guide") is inserted, possibly attached to the direction of the vehicle. On each side of this groove, two metal elements allow the current to be captured by the vehicle's wipers, often called "brushes" or "braids" (sensors made of braided copper wire). The system is therefore made up of rolling track elements fitting into each other like rails to form a circuit. The goal is not only to run vehicles but to organize real races between a number of competitors determined by the number of grooves available. The routes (also called "pistes") must offer developments as close as possible. If this is not the case, player “rotations” are introduced. Numerous accessories are available to ensure timing, lap counting and designation of the winner. The use of electronic control makes it possible to complicate the control of vehicles on tracks allowing, for example, overtaking. The digital systems that have recently appeared make it possible, while only having two tracks, to run 4, 6 or even 15 cars together using different systems to operate the switches. The digital systems currently available are: Ninco, Davic (named after its inventors David and Victor), Scalextric digital, SCX, Carrera, and Artin. It is undoubtedly this aspect of competition, which does not exist with the electric train, which makes the success of the game. Since the beginning of the 1990s, the Spanish manufacturer Ninco has set new standards in terms of quality, thus bringing electric circuit cars closer to static scale models, making it a brand of choice!
